About This Program
FourthWave Accelerator: Empowering Women-Led Tech Startups
History and Founding Story
FourthWave Accelerator, now in its seventh session, was established with a clear mission: to address the unique challenges faced by women founders in the technology sector. Recognizing that traditional accelerator models often fall short in supporting women entrepreneurs, FourthWave was designed by and for women, fostering an environment where leadership growth is as crucial as business development. Its grant-funded, non-dilutive structure underscores a commitment to empowering founders without demanding equity, reflecting a deep understanding of the capital-raising landscape for women-led businesses.
Mission and Values
The core mission of FourthWave is to provide leadership, mentorship, and momentum for women-led tech startups. The program values clarity in vision, strategic strengthening, and becoming funding-ready. It champions an approach where founders are met where they are, providing tailored support from seasoned entrepreneurs, investors, and coaches. A key value is fostering lifelong collaborations and champions among its cohort, emphasizing community and peer support.
Program Structure and Timeline
FourthWave is a 16-week program, primarily virtual to ensure accessibility for founders across the U.S. The program kicks off with a mandatory two-day in-person launch in Sacramento, typically in early August, designed to build foundational trust and connection within the cohort. Throughout the program, participants engage in weekly virtual sessions that delve into both leadership development and essential business fundamentals. The program culminates in an opportunity to present to investors during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November, providing a critical platform for fundraising.
Mentorship and Network
Participants benefit from 1:1 mentorship provided by successful female entrepreneurs, offering invaluable guidance and insights. The program also facilitates expert coaching on critical areas such as funding strategy, go-to-market planning, and product development risk. A curated group of 12–15 women founders forms a strong peer support network, fostering collaboration and shared learning. The relationships forged within FourthWave are intended to extend beyond the program, creating a lasting community of collaborators and champions.
Investment Terms
FourthWave operates as a nonprofit and is non-dilutive, meaning it does not take equity from participating companies. There is a one-time program fee of $450, which helps cover operational costs and signifies a founder's commitment. The program is committed to ensuring this fee is not a barrier for any founder, offering flexibility and support if hardship arises.
What Makes It Unique
What sets FourthWave apart is its intentional design by and for women entrepreneurs. It prioritizes leadership growth alongside business model development, creating a holistic support system. The combination of personalized mentorship, expert coaching, and a strong peer network within a non-dilutive framework makes it a distinctive and highly valuable accelerator for women in tech. The blend of virtual sessions with a crucial in-person kickoff also balances flexibility with deep connection.
Notable Outcomes
FourthWave boasts a strong track record, with past participants collectively raising over $150 million in investment and venture capital. The program has supported a diverse range of successful companies, including Elve, Hamama, HomeZada, 3D OPS, and Foodom, all of whom are now part of the robust FourthWave alum community.
What Participants Can Expect Day-to-Day

Beyond scheduled sessions, founders will dedicate time to implementing coaching feedback, refining their strategies, and collaborating with their mentors and peers.
