About This Program

AI Startup Accelerator Program in Vietnam: Fostering AI Innovation

The AI Startup Accelerator Program in Vietnam is a collaborative initiative between JICA DXLab and Vietnam's National Innovation Center (NIC), designed to propel early-stage AI startups in Vietnam towards greater maturity, visibility, and investment readiness. This pilot program is a strategic response to the Vietnamese government's vision of positioning the country as a leader in AI adoption by 2030, addressing existing structural barriers such as limited access to high-quality datasets, a shortage of AI-specific skills, and cost-effectiveness concerns within the burgeoning AI sector.

Mission and Values

The program's core mission is to serve as a catalyst for enhancing the capabilities, visibility, and investment readiness of early-stage AI startups. Beyond direct startup support, it also aims to strengthen NIC’s operational capacity, enabling them to independently run future accelerators and contribute to the long-term growth of Vietnam’s AI ecosystem. The initiative values collaboration, structured development, and sustainable economic impact through innovation.

Program Structure and Timeline

The accelerator is structured into three distinct phases, spanning a total of 4.5 months. The Pilot Preparation phase, lasting one month, focuses on startup onboarding, comprehensive needs assessments, and the meticulous preparation of program content and execution plans. This ensures that the program is tailored to the specific requirements of the selected cohort. The subsequent Pilot Execution phase, extending for three months, is the core of the program, delivering intensive mentorship, specialized training, and crucial partner and investor matching opportunities. Key events, including a highly anticipated demo day, are integral to this phase. Finally, the Pilot Documentation phase, lasting 0.5 months, involves final reporting on outcomes, impact, and recommendations for scaling future accelerators, ensuring continuous improvement and knowledge transfer. The program is expected to commence in July 2025 and conclude by mid-October 2025.

Mentorship and Network

Participants can expect a robust support system encompassing structured training and technical mentorship. The program emphasizes business and investor matchmaking, providing startups with invaluable connections to potential partners and funding sources. The Execution Partner (EP) is responsible for tailoring and executing the program, ensuring that startups receive personalized guidance. This collaborative approach also supports NIC in building internal capabilities for long-term accelerator operations, fostering a sustainable ecosystem of support for AI innovation in Vietnam.

What Makes it Unique

What sets this program apart is its dual focus: not only does it aim to elevate individual AI startups, but it also strategically invests in building the institutional capacity of the National Innovation Center. This ensures a lasting impact on Vietnam's AI ecosystem beyond the pilot program. The collaboration between JICA DXLab and NIC, combined with a clear objective to address specific challenges within Vietnam's AI sector, makes this a uniquely targeted and impactful initiative. The program's commitment to demonstrating that Vietnam’s AI startup ecosystem can scale sustainably is a testament to its forward-thinking approach.

What Participants Can Expect Day-to-Day

Startups accepted into the program can anticipate a dynamic and intensive experience. Day-to-day activities will likely involve workshops and training sessions covering various aspects of AI development, business strategy, and investment readiness. Regular one-on-one sessions with technical mentors will provide guidance on product development and problem-solving. Networking events and facilitated introductions will connect founders with industry experts, potential customers, and investors. The program culminates in a demo day, offering a platform for startups to showcase their innovations to a broader audience and secure further investment. The structured yet flexible approach ensures that each startup's unique needs are addressed, fostering an environment conducive to rapid growth and development.
