About This Program

Andrews Launch Accelerator: Empowering NC State Founders

The Andrews Launch Accelerator (ALA) is a cornerstone program at NC State University, dedicated to transforming the entrepreneurial visions of its students and recent graduates into tangible realities. Founded through the generous $1,000,000 donation from Lyn and Chip Andrews, the program embodies a commitment to fostering innovation and supporting the next generation of business leaders within the NC State community. Its mission is to provide a robust platform for founders to jumpstart their entrepreneurial journey, offering critical resources, funding, and guidance without taking equity.

Program Structure and Timeline

The ALA is an intensive 12-week summer program designed to immerse participants in the startup ecosystem. For the 2026 cohort, the program is planned to run from May 15th to August 18th. The core of the program revolves around structured modules held on Tuesday mornings from 9 AM to 12 PM, with an additional Monday session during the kickoff week. These modules are meticulously crafted to cover essential entrepreneurial topics, including customer discovery, product development, and fundraising strategies. The program culminates in a highly anticipated Demo Day, where participating companies present their ventures to top investors in the Triangle area, offering invaluable exposure and potential funding opportunities.

Mentorship and Network

Beyond structured modules, the Andrews Launch Accelerator provides significant mentorship and networking opportunities. Each accepted team is assigned an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) who serves as a dedicated coach throughout the program. This personalized guidance ensures that founders receive tailored advice and support, helping them navigate challenges and refine their business models. The program also facilitates connections with local entrepreneurs and investors, as evidenced by the positive feedback from Demo Day attendees who are consistently impressed by the quality of startups and presentations.

Investment Terms and Funding

A distinctive feature of the ALA is its provision of equity-free seed capital. The NC State Acceleration Fund, established by the Andrews' donation, allocates this non-dilutive funding to startups upon successful completion of the accelerator. The funding amount varies based on each team's stage and needs, with teams typically receiving between $5,000 and $10,000. This non-dilutive approach ensures that founders retain full ownership of their companies, maximizing their long-term potential.

What Makes It Unique

The Andrews Launch Accelerator stands out due to its specific focus on NC State founders, its equity-free funding model, and its comprehensive, structured curriculum. The program's commitment to supporting a diverse range of startups, from coffee businesses to cutting-edge software applications, highlights its inclusive nature. The requirement for at least one founder to be physically present in Raleigh for in-person sessions underscores the program's belief in the power of direct engagement and community building.

Notable Outcomes

The impact of the Andrews Launch Accelerator is evident in its impressive track record. To date, 41 companies have successfully participated in the program. These ALA companies have collectively generated $15.2 million in revenue and have raised over $42.7 million in total funding since the program's inception. These statistics underscore the accelerator's effectiveness in fostering successful ventures and contributing significantly to the entrepreneurial landscape.

What Participants Can Expect Day-to-Day

Participants can expect a demanding yet rewarding experience. Their weeks will be structured around developing their concepts and building their companies, with Tuesday mornings dedicated to intensive module sessions.
