About This Program

Program Overview

The Export Accelerator Program, spearheaded by the EDPNC (Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina), is a transformative initiative designed to empower manufacturers and service-based exporters across North Carolina to strategically expand their presence in global markets. The program's core mission is to provide businesses with the necessary tools, knowledge, and connections to accelerate their export sales and establish a strong international footprint. It emphasizes a blend of strategic planning, practical training, and hands-on support, ensuring participants are well-equipped to navigate the complexities of global trade.

Program Structure and Timeline

The Export Accelerator Program operates on a 12-month cycle, commencing in August 2026. The program is structured into two distinct phases. The first phase, running from August to December 2026, focuses on intensive training and strategic development. During this period, participating companies engage in four comprehensive workshops: three in-person sessions held in Raleigh (Aug. 26), Greensboro (Oct. 28), and Charlotte (Dec. 1), and one online session (Sept. 30). These workshops cover critical topics such as Strategic Planning, Managing Global Sales, Trade Finance, and Legal & Logistics Best Practices. In addition to workshops, companies receive two individual online meetings to develop their custom strategic export sales plans. The second phase, from January to July 2027, transitions into sustained support, offering seven months of continued export counseling and a crucial international partner matchmaking service, designed to connect businesses with potential buyers and collaborators worldwide.

Mentorship and Network

The program's design fosters a collaborative learning environment. Participation is intentionally limited to 10 companies per cohort, encouraging peer learning and intimate interaction. Up to three employees per company are included in the training, ensuring that key personnel receive tailored coaching and practical insights. While specific mentors are not individually named, the program promises "tailored international trade coaching" and "continued export counselling," implying expert guidance from seasoned professionals in global trade. The international partner matchmaking service further extends the network, connecting participants directly with potential international buyers and partners, a critical component for successful export expansion.

What Makes It Unique

What sets the Export Accelerator Program apart is its comprehensive, year-long, and highly tailored approach. Unlike generic training programs, it combines structured workshops with individualized coaching and direct matchmaking opportunities. The limited cohort size ensures personalized attention and fosters a strong peer-learning community. The program's focus on practical application, evidenced by the development of custom strategic export sales plans, ensures that participants not only learn but also implement actionable strategies for global growth. The inclusion of diverse workshop topics, from finance to legal best practices, provides a holistic understanding of international trade.

What Participants Can Expect Day-to-Day

Participants can expect a dynamic and engaging experience. During the initial five months (August-December 2026), the schedule will involve attending approximately one workshop per month, either in-person at various North Carolina locations or online. These workshops will be interactive, providing opportunities for discussion and application of concepts. Companies will also engage in two individual online meetings with program facilitators to refine their export strategies. The subsequent seven months (January-July 2027) will involve ongoing communication and support through export counseling sessions, likely conducted remotely, and the facilitation of international partner matchmaking, which could involve virtual or in-person introductions. The program demands active participation and a commitment to developing and executing a global market strategy.
